It is sad to say that Representative Fred Hill did not seek another term this last election in Texas District 112.  His successor is Angie Chen Button.  She takes office on January 13th.

It was announced on www.quorumreport.com that Ms. Button would be supporting Representative Joe Straus as the next Speaker of the House of Representatives here in the state of Texas.  Upon reading this, I emailed her campaign (since she does not have a phone number, email or office to contact).

Below is my email (edited from website goop to the original form) and the subsequent response.  Needless to say, it is this kind of non-responsive elected representative that makes one's blood boil.

Is it just me or do others become offended when a politician we elect who is supposed to represent you has the audacity to have someone else respond to you (in this situation, I think we can all agree that it's not as if she's so important or busy with committee meetings as to be unable to respond personally) and then not even address the issue that you raised?  I am so tired of politicians thinking that there is no one watching and that no one cares what they do and therefore they can just do as they please with no repercussions.

At the moment, I'm concerned that Ms. Button may be yet another RINO and certainly is worthy of a watchful eye during her first term.

Back to the issue, you'll see what I mean. . .

Your Name: Lori Ann
Question:
Dear Ms. Button,
It is my understanding that you intend to vote for Representative Straus as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives. Could you please confirm whether this is accurate information that I have received?
Let me make clear that I do not support Representative Straus for Speaker of the House. His voting record as relates to family values are unacceptable. Your website says the following regarding family values:
Angie Chen Button and her husband Darcy have been happily married for 27 years. They have one son, Dane, who is a graduate of RISD schools and the University of Texas at Austin. Angie is a Christian. She is pro-life and believes strongly in traditional family values.
If you truly believe in these, then I do not understand how you can in good conscience vote for Rep. Straus.
Thank you in advance for your response to this email.
